Cold and Alone, Puppy Howls In Fear Until Rescuer Comforts Him
A puppy’s mournful, frightened howls broke his rescuer’s heart when she came to save him from an icy cold lane. The puppy was huddled against a pole, shivering from the icy snow and was in pain from injuries.
When Donna from Stray Rescue of St. Louis approached him he began to howl.
“This poor soul completely broke our hearts in two, she wrote on Facebook. “He was shivering and screaming in FEAR.”
Although the young dog continued to howl, he didn’t run away and lets Donna place a leash around his neck. As soon as he’s secured, he lets out a whimper, no doubt feeling a mixture of fear and relief.
“He smells of infection from a wound on his side, and appears to have paraphimosis,” Donna said after examining the dog she was rescuing.
Paraphimosis is a urologic condition in which the retracted foreskin of an uncircumcised male dog can’t returned to its normal position.
As soon as the puppy – who rescuers have named Weezer – is in the car with Donna his tail began to wag. “Aren’t you glad you came with me?” she says in the video, telling everyone. “Thank God he will not spend another minute alone in the cold.”
Once back at their trauma center, Weezer got looked over by their medical staff.
Poor Weezer’s nasty infection appears to have come from an embedded harness. Stray Rescue wrote: “It looks as though he may have had a harness on that became embedded and badly infected. We’ve seen many embedded collars, but not embedded harnesses.”
As for his paraphimosis, fortunately, it is not severe.
“Thankfully, his paraphimosis is a minor case,” Stray Rescue shared. “He looks to be about 7 months old and is as sweet as can be.”
Pupdate:
A few days have past since Weezer’s rescue and he’s now headed to foster care. “Weezer left today for a medical foster home where he can continue healing and resting until he’s ready to be adopted,” Stray Rescue wrote. “He’s so happy he wouldn’t stop kissing his new foster mama Syl!”
And in even better news, around a month after Weezer went into foster care, he found a forever home!
He’s got furry siblings and a loving family he can call his own.
He also enjoys watching a baseball game or two on TV.
