Man Arrested After Leaving Husky Puppy Locked In Hot Car With Mouth Taped Shut
It’s a miracle that a 3-month-old husky puppy is alive. The puppy was discovered inside a hot vehicle with his mouth taped shut while the outside temperature in Las Vegas was a sweltering 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 Celsius).
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call from hotel security and went to the top floor of a parking garage where the car was parked. “Security got the dog out of the car through the vehicle’s sunroof,” the police department tweeted.
“Through our investigation, we discovered the dog had been in the car for nearly 2 hours without air conditioning, food, or water while the vehicle’s owner went inside to gamble.”
The puppy’s mouth was also taped shut with electrical tape, according to the police report.
The police department later released body cam video from one of the officers at the scene which shows the moment the dog’s owner returned to the vehicle. They captioned the video in all caps, “WHAT NOT TO DO IN VEGAS.” They also tweeted: “*DO NOT LEAVE PEOPLE OR ANIMALS IN HOT CARS. PERIOD.*”
Raul Carbajal, 50, returned to his Mercedes car and was immediately handcuffed by officers and charged with willful and malicious torture of an animal. Carabajal, from California, allegedly left the puppy in the car while he gambled at a casino on July 20, 2022.
One viewer of the video commented, “I could feel the officers anger in that video. So glad that excuse of a human was caught and the puppy is okay.”
The puppy’s medical condition is not fully known at this point, but Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted on July 28, 2022 that “the 3-month-old Husky puppy is still with animal control and receiving medical treatment for this July 20 incident.”
