Neglected Dog Endured Discomfort for Years, Now Embraces His Newfound Life

Teddy was found covered in matted fur and smelling like waste. A compassionate woman spotted the small dog on the street in a New York neighborhood, managed to get a hold of him and immediately called Angels for Mistreated Animals for help.

“Teddy was in such excruciating pain that we couldn’t possibly shave his severely matted fur while he was awake,” AMA Animal Rescue wrote on YouTube. “Therefore, we had to sedate him, and it took three technicians working tirelessly for over three hours to accomplish the task.”

While Teddy was under anaesthesia they “performed necessary dental surgery, as Teddy’s teeth were also in a dreadful state” the rescue said.

Once Teddy was done he looked like a completely different dog! In a video shared by AMA Animal Rescue shared Teddy’s transformation from neglect to compassion in a video, which you can watch below.

“The thought of the years of discomfort this poor dog endured is simply heart-wrenching,” AMA Animal Rescue described. And yet, despite all the pain and suffering Teddy had endured, he displayed remarkable resilience.

His courage and positive attitude won him many fans among the rescue’s volunteers and he quickly became a favorite of theirs.

“It didn’t take long for Teddy to emerge from his shell and wholeheartedly embrace the newfound life free from neglect that we provided,” AMA Animal Rescue continued. And it didn’t take long for Teddy to find a forever family either!

Now, Teddy enjoys cuddles, toys and most importantly love. “This is what happily ever after looks like for Teddy,” his rescuers wrote. “He is no longer a neglected, homeless dog. Instead, he is cherished as a beloved family member with humans he can truly call his own for the rest of his life. Enjoy every moment, dear little guy! We will always hold a special place in our hearts for you.”
