Dog Protects Badly Injured Pregnant Friend Until Help Arrives
When Betty Walter isn’t working three jobs and taking care of her dogs she rescues stray dogs off the streets of Houston, Texas. Recently, she got a text about a pregnant dog that was hit by a car and being fiercely protected by another dog.
She pulled up to the two dogs and right away realized the pregnant dog couldn’t walk. It looked to Betty like the dog was trying to give birth but she couldn’t move. Her friend was trying to protect her from other dogs in the area.
Betty managed to get the mama dog into a crate but then she had another challenge. She needed someone to help lift the crate into her car but no one driving by would help her.
Betty revealed her disappointment on her TikTok channel (Betty Walter Rescue), saying there were a good number of people at the park. She ended up calling for help and 30 minutes later she was driving to the emergency vet hospital with “Betty White” but not before she asked the other dog, who she named Allen, “Hey, do you want to go with me?”He did and jumped into the car with her and his friend.
At the vet’s Betty was shocked to learn that the mama shepherd’s broken bones were more in keeping with breaks made by a baseball bat than a vehicle. Sadly, because of the accident none of Betty White’s puppies survived. She underwent surgery to fix her pelvis and then home with Betty to recuperate. But Betty said the white shepherd dog was depressed for the first several weeks and would only interact with Allen. Allen lent her all the moral support he could.
It took two months for Betty White to be able to use her leg again. She and Allen also received heartworm treatment. “She deserves to be loved,” said Betty.
Although Betty wanted to do what she could to adopt the two friends together, she was unable to do so but she was able to do the next best thing! Both the dogs have been adopted in the same town. Betty revealed, “They will be close to each other in the same town. 20 mins. Will have play dates.”
Betty revealed that Betty White is “doing great with her new family.”

She also shared that Allen made it to his new home and his new mom is spoiling him with attention.
