Girl Points to Shelter Dog Shaking in the Back of Kennel and Says ‘That One’

When G went with her mom, Audra Spurio, to their local shelter to look at the dogs there, G instantly gravitated to a small, sick Pit Bull shaking at the back of her kennel.

The 2-year-old wanted to meet Scarlett more than any other dog at the shelter even though Scarlett had mange and stunk and didn’t have a name at the time.

G pointed to Scarlett and said, “Mommy, that one” and asked to take her out of the kennel. Scarlett was so scared she froze the moment she got out of the kennel. But when G took up her leash, the dog followed the youngster outside.

From that moment on, Scarlett wouldn’t let G out of her sight and wouldn’t leave her side. G wiped the snot from Scarlett’s nose and repeatedly told her mom, “doggy sick, needs help.”

When Audra put Scarlett back into her kennel the dog began to shake again, no doubt terrified at the thought of being left all alone again. But G refused to leave Scarlett behind telling her mom that Scarlett needed their help. Thankfully, G got her way and Audra gave in to her daughter’s demand. They adopted Scarlett and just one week at her new home Scarlett is healing in both body and spirit. And the sweet dog still won’t let G out of her sight.
