Puppy Living on the Streets Shows Up at a Family’s House Severely Injured
A family who had been feeding a skinny street dog called rescuers for help after the dog appeared at their doorstep severely injured.
“A family said she showed up at their house a few weeks ago, emaciated,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis explained on how they came to rescue the dog. “They started leaving food out for her and when she showed up this week, she looked like this.”
Jessie had been attacked and bitten by some animal. Seeing the condition she was in, Stray Rescue rushed the young dog to an emergency 24 hour clinic. Jessie’s head was swollen with infection and X-rays revealed that her orbital bone and teeth on one side of her face were shattered. She would require surgery.
A few days later, rescuers went to visit Jessie and the sweet little dog greeted her rescuers with a wagging tail despite all the trauma she had been through.
Thankfully, Jessie can eat on her own and her energy is improving. She enjoyed the cuddles and attention she got from Donna and even had the energy to pick up a stuffed toy much to her caregivers’ delight. The sight of Jessie being a happy dog melts our hearts!

Jessie is doing so much better a few weeks after her rescue. Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared a video of Jessie being discharged from hospital and shared, “We brought Jessie home to Stray Rescue today. We can never ever thank her doctors and nurses enough for caring for her and getting her to this point with around the clock emergency care.”
“Everyone that meets her says ‘Oh she’s sooo little!'”
On her first day at the shelter, she “got to lay in the sunshine, get some fresh air, and got tons of kisses.”
“Next we’ll schedule her surgeries, but for now she gets to rest. We promise to keep everyone posted when they are scheduled so you know. After all, she’s your dog, too! You’re the ones that saved her!”
