Stray Dog’s Transformation Fills Her Rescuers’ Hearts with Joy
When Sabine Kaufmann was out walking her dogs she spotted a small dog crouched in the bushes. The dog was so sick she was unable to walk and it was clear to Sabine that “humans had been unkind to her.”
Sabine, who runs Little Steps Matter dog rescue in Bali, knew exactly how to help. After lots of comforting words, Hope (as Sabine named her) let herself be picked up and brought to safety.
The poor little dog looked ancient with her crooked back and lack of fur but she turned out to be around four years old. Hope needed emergency surgery for a hernia but after a week in hospital she was ready to go into foster care.
Hope was very frightened and unsure of people but Krista, her foster mom, gave her lots and lots of love and slowly Hope grew in her confidence and became a very happy dog. Her transformation filled her rescuers’ hearts with joy. “No one could have predicted the dog she was to become,” said Sabine in the video of Hope’s rescue.
After four months, Hope’s recovery was complete and she was adopted by a wonderful family. Sabine said, “We couldn’t have asked for a better forever home for Hope.” Sabine established Little Steps Matter with friends and family in 2016. You can learn more about Little Steps Matter on their website.
