Abandoned Dog Living By Discarded Couch In Desert Finally Rescued

Kirk Geiger, President of The Animal Rescue Center of California says teamwork is everything when it comes to rescue. So when his friend Jose called him to tell him about a small stray dog out in the scorching heat in Coachella, California that needed their help he drove out to help.

The little dog was living in a field miles from civilization. He would take shelter by a discarded couch by the side of the road. Kirk didn’t know if the dog hid there because it offered some shade or because he had been dumped there with it. Even though the poor dog’s paws were burned from the hot asphalt, he still managed to run away from them.

It would take several days of trial and error and extensive planning to finally rescue the tiny stray. And it was just in time too. In their search for the dog, the pair had made a horrific discovery near to where the dog was missing – a dog dumping ground which served as a stark reminder of what would happen to the dog if he wasn’t caught.

Thankfully, Jose lured the dog with water by the dog’s couch. He spotted the dog drinking and quickly got out of the car and closed the fence. The two men gave each other huge “high fives” for “one more dog saved.” Within a few days the dog had made an amazing transformation. His tail was wagging, he wanted belly rubs and there was lots of happy playing with the people and other puppies at the shelter.
