Puppy Who Spent Entire Life in a Crate Rescued from Roadside

Roger was on the phone with his wife when he spotted a puppy in the right lane of traffic. He immediately pulled off to the side of the road and the dog, knowing help had arrived, ran right over to him.

The poor pup must have been through a terrible ordeal. He was covered in ticks and fleas and was evidently exhausted because he immediately curled up on Roger’s lap and fell asleep. Roger called back his wife and arranged to get into the veterinarian right away. The vet shared some shocking news with them – the pup (who they named, R2) – had likely been kept in a crate his whole life. As a result, R2 had flat feet. So to counteract the malformation, Roger and his family take R2 out every day for walks on uneven surfaces to build up his strength in his paws.

It was clear R2 hadn’t been exposed to much because he was initially terrified to walk on grass. But Roger says R2 has “a one in a million attitude” and is calm and happy with people and animals. That’s a good thing because R2 gets along with their three other rescue dogs.

In the video Roger mentions he wasn’t sure about what R2’s breed was so he sent away a DNA testing kit. The results of the DNA test? R2 is mostly Staffordshire terrier and American Pitbull terrier.

But one viewer corrected Roger, telling him, “No, you’re wrong, he’s 100% purebred good boy!” to which Roger heartily agreed, “I stand corrected.”
