Shelter Dog Saved Just Hours Before He was to Be Put Down Melts Into Rescuer’s Arms
It took a while for Ross the Pit Bull to realize he was safe. When Jocelyn with Hearts United For Good Rescue (HUGCLT) pulled him from the animal shelter in North Carolina, she got there just in the nick of time. If she had been 2 hours later, he would have been euthanized.
The dog was so smelly and scared when he got back to her home that she had to shower with him. That evening, Ross was very agitated and wouldn’t settle down. She knew he wouldn’t get comfortable until he felt safe. So it was an “all-nighter” of repeatedly going outside with Ross and reassuring him he was out of the stressful shelter and didn’t need to worry any more. Then – right before the sun rose – Jocelyn said, “The most amazing thing happened. He finally just stopped moving and melted into my arms.”
Ross finally understood he was safe. Immediately after getting hugged, Ross came inside and went to sleep. It didn’t take Jocelyn long to find the perfect home for Ross. Bethany reached out to her to adopt him and from the second Ross and Bethany met, they each knew it was meant to be.
