Hound ‘Sniffing out Mischief’ Gets Stuck in Surprising Space

A hound dog named Spike needed to be rescued by the Police and Fire departments after he got himself stuck in an unusual place. The naughty dog somehow managed to squeeze his head in a house dryer vent hole and couldn’t get out.

Sumter Police Department arrived to find the the comical sight of Spike with his head sticking out of the hole.

“Spike was sniffing out mischief when he got stuck in the dryer vent of a Warren Court home earlier today,” the Sumter Police Department said on their Facebook page on November 30.

Coordinating with the Sumter Fire Department, the teams broke apart the exterior walls in order to free the dog.

Spike didn’t panic (maybe he was more embarrassed than scared) and waited patiently for the rescuers to free him, which took around an hour.

The teams managed to pull Spike back inside the house after widening the space.

The police department shared that the “happy hound was freed from his unfortunate circumstance and is doing fine.”

They added that the hound was no doubt, “probably looking to see what else he can get into for the day.”

It turns out Spike got into the mischief while he was being petsitted by grandma.

Spike’s grandmother told Sumter Police Lt. C. Shepperd Lewis that the dog tends “to get into things.”

She also commented on the Facebook post and wrote, “I am thankful for the time and the care from both police and fire department for rescuing Spike, it took a ‘lil over an hour glad I was home while Kam was at school.” She added, “Job Well Done.”
