Sampson was found alone and scared in the woods in South Carolina and rescued by Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF). The puppy appeared to have mange but it turned out to be a rare auto-immune genetic condition that essentially made him un-adoptable.
Knowing he would need ongoing care but also wanting to give him the best life, ARF reached out to one of their most experienced foster families. Sampson’s foster family needed to be careful because Sampson’s bones could easily break. At the same time, they wanted him to get out in the world and experience life to the fullest.
And that’s what Sampson did until he passed away in 2022. He loved everyone he met and was a really happy little guy who left his paw prints on the hearts of his rescuers. “Sampson taught us not to take anything for granted and that you can find joy in the simplest things,” Sampson’s family said. And Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons wrote, “Sampson is proof that it’s not about the challenges you face, but the love you give.”

Grandma thinks this Schipperke dog is so cute when she smiles. She just has to say hello to her grand dog and the tiny dog breaks out in a grin! And the more attention she gives her, the more she tells her it’s a “pretty smile” and that she’s sweet, the wider the grin gets!

He also had difficulty getting around on his 3 legs. The South African dog rescue noted that he was extremely weak and his eyes were filled with fear…
