Senior Dog Escapes Backyard and Ends Up at Local Bar Having a Great Time
Jenny Hazard’s Shih Tzu mix Bear has always loved adventure. But at nearly 17 years old she figured Bear’s “runner” days were behind him. But when he recently escaped her backyard he showed up in the last place she expected.
Recently, Jenny was outside in the backyard of her Milwaukee home with her three dogs and it was just getting dark outside. When she looked around she couldn’t see Bear. That’s when she noticed the gate was slightly ajar and Bear had snuck off. She panicked and immediately went looking for him, not thinking the senior dog with a limp and partially blind could get far.
She right away posted a message to social media describing what Bear was wearing and writing that she was “terrified he won’t last long in this weather.” (It is snowy and cold.)
While searching for him she got a text from Finks, a local bar a mile away from her home. Jenny has no idea how Bear got there although later on Jenny thinks that Bear may have been picked up by a group of girls bar hopping and they must have seen him after he got out of the backyard and maybe brought him to Finks.
“They took good care of him, and I guess he was pretty popular,” Jenny told WITI.
A friend of a friend shared a photo with Jenny of Bear at the bar and it sure looked like Bear was having a great time. It turns out he was very popular with the patrons. “Old man breaks free — goes to bar,” she joked of Bear.
Jenny is extremely grateful and relieved Bear was found safe and that he got to have some fun too.
