First Dog Ever to Throw Out First Pitch at Baseball Game Wins Over Crowd

Los Angeles Dodgers baseball pitcher Shohei Ohtani and his dog Decoy gave the crowd the cutest first pitch you’ve ever seen. At a recent game, Decoy became the star of the game when he threw out the first pitch of the game. The announcers said that the 1-year-old Dutch Kooikerhondje is the first dog ever to do so.

Shohei brought Decoy out to the pitcher’s mound and then went to the home plate. As soon as he gave Decoy a hand signal, Decoy ran with the ball in his mouth from the mound to the plate and shared a high-five with his dad.

Shohei and Decoy impressed the sellout crowd of 53,290 and the Dodgers went on to win the game 6-4. One viewer humorously responded after seeing the adorable exchange. “I thought it was going to be a Ruff night but Shohei proved otherwise.”

The ceremonial first pitch was part of a bobblehead giveaway of a ‘Shohei & Decoy’ figurine. Fans began lining up more than seven hours before the giveaway game at Dodger Stadium.

Shohei is not the only dog lover on the team. The Dodgers released a video of Andy Pages talking about his dogs and how he spends his days off with his pets.
