Dog Missing for Two Years in Colorado Reunites with Family Thanks to Dedicated Rescuers

Two long years have passed since a dog disappeared in Colorado while under the care of a pet sitter. Brandy Ross felt devastated after her beloved dog Bear went missing. Her family searched for weeks, desperately trying to find him, but found no trace of him. Not long after, the military family had to relocate to New York.

Bear spent two years missing.

Then, this past July, there was a sighting of Bear. He was covered in mud and wandering around a construction area. Volunteer pet rescuers wanted to help the stray dog and spent two weeks trying to track him down and catch him.

Danielle Neiner, one of the volunteers, said that they finally managed to catch Bear with a large trap. Bear was very dirty, matted and underweight but he didn’t have any health problems. He also had a microchip.

When Ross received the call that Bear had been found she was stunned. “Oh my gosh, I was literally bawling my eyes out,” she told WKBT News 8. “It’s so crazy that he survived for two years in the Colorado weather.”

Since Bear’s rescue, Ross said she’s been video chatting with him. She will be seeing him in person soon because he will arrive in New York any day now, thanks to community members who arranged and paid for his transport.
