Dog Dumped in Woods Whimpers In Rescuer’s Arms
First it was an emaciated Matlock curled in a ball and fighting for his life. Then it was a pregnant Mudder pushed out of an SUV in the rain. And now it’s an injured Kathy Bates. Three dogs rescued from the same park in three weeks.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis received a call after rescuing Matlock and Mudder about a third dog. “Good Samaritans saw our stories and reached out, saying they were feeding a third dog who showed up in the same spot three weeks ago—the same time we rescued Matlock,” the organization shared.
Stray Rescue continued, “We named her Kathy Bates and oh my gosh. Get ready to fall in love. When we met her we said, ‘Were you in those woods at night all alone? You had to be so brave? You’re just a baby?’ She climbed in our laps, whimpering, telling us her story. She didn’t want to be alone, she wanted to be touching someone. She took that first healing nap in the lap of one of our staff members.”
It didn’t take long for their weekend volunteers to meet her and become instantly smitten. “They couldn’t get enough of her,” the rescuers said. “They bathed her, took her for walks where she will force you to stop walking so she can be in your lap again. More, more, more. She can’t get enough love.”
Kathy Bates is ready to be adopted and Stray Rescue is hopeful potential adopters will fall in love with her as much as all the staff have. It’s important more than ever that adopters reach out because Stray Rescue of St. Louis is currently overfull and has a rescue freeze and don’t have the space for any more dogs. And here is the one for Matlock. “We searched these woods for hours for an extremely emaciated dog a Good Samaritan saw earlier while walking her dogs. Due to daylight savings, we were losing light really quick and about to give up. THAT’S when we spotted him curled up in a tiny ball…Everyone, meet Matlock.”
