Senior Rescue Dog’s Heartwarming Reaction to His Very First Toy
When Bruce, a 9-year-old Golden Retriever, was rescued by Aubrey and Corey, he didn’t know what toys were. He had spent his entire life as a breeding dog, and it was clear when they adopted him from their local shelter that he had not been well cared for. Bruce was filthy, had callouses on his legs, and his teeth were worn down—likely from chewing a crate out of boredom.
Although he was nervous at first in his new home, Bruce quickly bonded with Aubrey and Corey. They gave him toys, but he showed little interest initially. That changed after a few days, as Bruce began to relax and his personality began to emerge. One day, he reached for a stuffed toy—Lamby.
Lamby became the first toy Bruce ever played with, and it was an emotional moment for Aubrey and Corey. He picked up Lamby, brought it onto the couch, and snuggled with it. This heartwarming behavior has since become Bruce’s routine with all his toys. Seeing him cuddle and fall asleep with his plushies is incredibly sweet, a testament to his newfound happiness and the second chance he’s been given as a beloved pet and companion.
