Freezing Dog Curled Up On Porch Wags Tail When Someone Finally Talks To Her

A stray dog looking for some place warm but not finding anywhere safe, curled up on a porch to ride out the cold. But with multiple days of below freezing temperatures ahead, the dog was at high risk of freezing. Thankfully, the homeowner spotted the dog outside on their porch and called Stray Rescue of St. Louis for help.

When Donna Lochmann, Chief Life Saving Officer, approached the white pit bull mix, the dog didn’t uncurl or jump up to greet her. Instead she stayed huddled in a ball and looked at them in confusion. Donna took a few steps closer and talked gently to the dog, who they’ve named Comfy Cozy. Comfy Cozy raised her head and began wagging her tail.

Donna wrote, “She had NO IDEA a helping hand would come for her, she was so confused. ‘Wait, you’re here for….me?’ Yes, we are here for you! You matter, you are beautiful, you deserve a family and a couch and toys and treats and a Christmas sweater.”

They quickly got Comfy Cozy into the warm car where she immediately leaned into Donna for some cuddles and extra attention.

Once back at the shelter Comfy Cozy was checked over. She’s underweight but a real love bug.

The shelter is very full and they are looking for a family or foster for her. They just did a special photoshoot to spotlight one of Comfy Cozy’s most adorable features – her ears!
