Dog Owner Kills Man Suspected of Poisoning His Dog

A man accused of killing dogs with poisonous darts has died after a “furious owner slammed him into a brick wall with his car”, news media has reported.

According to the Metro UK, the dog owner was arrested and charged with manslaughter and is now awaiting trial in the Chinese city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu province.

The paper revealed that the dog owner had heard his dog crying and found the dog paralyzed before noticing the suspected poisoner fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. He jumped into his car and gave chase before catching up to the man and slamming him into a pillar. The man died at the scene.

Chinese media reports that people at the scene found dead dogs, crossbows and poison darts on the motorcycle.

The deceased man was accused of killing six dogs in the area using a dart gun – a weapon used by criminals in the dog meat trade. Footage caught on a CCTV security camera appear to show a man on a scooter shooting a dog with a poisoned dart before fleeing the scene.

Since the dog owner’s arrest, his family has been interviewed and said that the driver “got the pedals confused’ and didn’t meant to ram the man on the scooter.

A relative of the dead man, said: “Even if he was in the wrong, that does not give you the right to be judge, jury and executioner.”

Recently, Chinese police seized 200,000 poisoned darts, which could have been used to fire at dogs. They made multiple arrests after discovering the operation, the Telegraph reported.

The Humane Society International has said that the dog meat trade in Asia is operated on a large scale by criminal organizations, “with as many as 20 million dogs and four million cats killed every year, so stopping the gangs involved is a major step in the right direction.”
