Officers Save Stray Dog Trapped in Apartment Fire in Dramatic Video

An intense dog rescue was recently shared by officers of the Atlanta Police Department, who discovered an unconscious dog in a burning apartment building.

Bodycam footage shows a team of officers finding the dog lying on a darkened porch surrounded by smoke.

Officer Robert Winkler (who was wearing the bodycam) quickly pulled the dog to safety and once the dog was away from the fire, the team of officers worked to revive him.

“Smokey” was gently placed on the ground while an officer administered CPR. He was wrapped in a coat to warm him up and also given oxygen to resuscitate him.

Once he was revived, Smokey was brought to Fulton County Animal Services for an overnight stay at a veterinary hospital.

“We are so incredibly proud of the compassion and love our officers showed for this animal, thank you,” Atlanta Police Department wrote on Facebook. “We also thank the firefighters with Atlanta Fire Rescue and Grady’s emergency responders for helping save Smokey.”
