The dog was taken to the Ross County Humane Society in Ohio where Brittany May, the shelter manager, was so aggravated by what she saw she shared her frustration on social media:

“So I usually try to contain my self with my work life and with what I see every single day, but this just tops it off! How are you going to dump your dog, and write FREE all over it in permanent marker! I just don’t get it! Anybody know this dog? Found dumped at the armory down in the park! This is a whole new level of LOW!”

Good news update – June 2, 2018: Not only have Ross County authorities identified and charged the person they say is responsible for abandoning Marvella, Marvella has also found a forever home.

Kendra Stafford faces charges of animal cruelty and animal abandonment and is scheduled to appear in court.

As for Marvella, shortly after her rescue, the sweet Lab mix was adopted. The Ross County Humane Society is hoping that Marvella’s story will inspire others to support their local animal shelters.
