Abandoned Dog Sleeps In Snow For Days Until Tourist Helps Her

An abandoned dog sleeping in front of a mountain resort hotel in Northern Romania is alive and well thanks to the efforts of a tourist who spotted her.

“Indy” was lying in the snow to get a bit of sunshine when she was noticed by a tourist. She had been ignored up until that time as Howl of a Dog rescue revealed that the owner of the hotel “kept chasing her away” as he feared the dog would scare away the tourists. The hotel keeper had also instructed his employees not to give her any food.

The Good Samaritan, though, took pity on the dog. He brought her food and fed her ever day for a few days. He even bought her a crate and warm blanket to help keep her warm on the chilly nights.

Every night, Indy had been curling up on the cold ground as temperatures dipped to minus 20 C (-4F).

Knowing the dog’s chances of survival looked grim, the tourist was determined to not leave the resort until he had found a way to save Indy.

The man couldn’t adopt her himself as he already had several adopted pets. So he phoned several rescues until one said yes. Howl of A Dog happily agreed and they were surprised and pleased when the Good Samaritan offered to drive Indy the 500 kilometres to their shelter from the mountain resort!

Indy was examined by a vet at their shelter and, although she’s young (5-years old), her teeth are worn down. Perhaps she had lived life on a chain and worn her teeth down out of boredom or trying to get free?

Indy is friendly, but shy, and she doesn’t seem to know what toys are for. But Howl of a Dog says she is learning quickly and coming out of her shell. She has been spayed and is in good health and is now looking for a forever home.

If you have a loving home for Indy and want to help her complete her journey to a happy life, please note that Howl of a Dog facilitates international adoptions to the USA, Canada and European countries. For more details about Indy’s adoption please visit: https://www.howlofadog.org/indy
