The disfigured Pit Bull was dumped in a woman’s yard and reported to Orange County Animal Services on August 6, 2015. A rescue coordinator asked Passion 4 Pits Rescue if they could help this special dog in tough shape and they took her in.

Khaleesi is around 2 years old and not only has immobile hind legs, missing lips and a missing nasal cavity, she was starving, weighing a mere 15 pounds when she arrived at the rescue. She immediately went into foster care and within nine days she has gained 10 pounds!

The injuries to her body appear to have been inflicted over time, which strongly indicates she was tortured by a person.

“It’s going to be at least six months of surgery before we can issue an adoption,” said Stephanie Paquin, founder of Passion 4 Pits Rescue in Orlando, Florida told ABC News. “Our focus is on getting her a nasal cavity because she’s in danger of aspirating whenever she eats or drinks something.”

Although Khaleesi is uncomfortable, thankfully, she is not in pain. She is been monitored closely by veterinarians, who will determine when and how to proceed with facial reconstruction surgery and tend to her other serious injuries.

Despite the terrible abuse she has suffered, Khaleesi is lapping up the attention she’s getting and has an amazing spirit.

Said Paquin, “It shocks me every day that I can see how happy she is and how she just wants attention.”

Khaleesi underwent surgery at Hays Towne Veterinary Clinic and they “transformed our girl, our little warrior. Their healing hands have given this gentle soul a new life,” Passion 4 Pits Rescue shared.

After her surgery Khaleesi went to live with Paquin and now lives her best life. She loves playing with new friends like newest rescue to Passion 4 Pits family, Duncan.

She loves going shopping, and shops in style!.

And she’s doted on and loves every minute of it.

Pupdate:

Sadly, Khaleesi passed away in 2016 from kidney failure. Although her time on Earth was short, she was adored by her family and by Passion 4 Pits crew. She inspired so many people – and continues to inspire them – to support dog rescue efforts in their local community. One such supporter wrote of Khaleesi on Facebook, “She was truly an inspiration & she continues to inspire from the bridge. She was loved by so many.”
