Blind Dog Found Covered in Mud and Aimlessly Wandering Seeking Home
A three-year-old blind dog named Honey is looking for a home after she was found by a Good Samaritan wandering around aimlessly and caked in mud.
The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth in Ontario, Canada, posted on Facebook that, “She was brought to our centre by some wonderful community members and our medical team quickly got to work making sure she was ok.”
Her blindness was caused by glaucoma and she had to have both her eyes removed. The poor pup also needed to be spayed and required dental surgery because her teeth were worn down, likely from chewing at the bars of a cage. (We suspect this all points to Honey being used for breeding.)
A generous local groomer donated her services to give Honey a makeover. “She looked like a completely different dog after and was ready to start her road to recovery and a happy, new life,” staff said.
Now that Honey has had medical care and had her makeover, she is feeling much better. Honey is currently in foster care with Stacy, a registered veterinary technician with the humane society, who says that Honey is definitely a special needs dog because of her blindness and so homes will need to be safety proofed to make sure Honey doesn’t injure herself.
Stacy also shared that Honey is a sweetheart. “She is so energetic and lovely. She loves to play, she loves carrying toys around and she interacts with my cats and dogs,” Murphy said. “She also really likes to snuggle. So she’ll play for a while and then she’ll just cuddle up on your lap.”
The humane society agrees with Stacy and says, “We have a feeling many people out there are going to fall in love with her.”
The humane society is now accepting applications to adopt Honey. Note, if the link doesn’t work it means that Honey has an adoption pending! You can visit the humane society’s website to see what other dogs they have available for adoption here.
