Adventurous Coonhound Surprises Mom by Chasing Squirrel 50 Feet Up a Tree

Adventurous Coonhound Tigger Rescued After Climbing 50-Foot TreeTigger, like most coonhounds, enjoys sniffing around in the yard and chasing after squirrels. But recently the 1-year-old dog surprised her mom in an unexpected way.

Sasha Marks went outside with Tigger, who followed a squirrel over to the spruce trees on their property at Wabamun Lake in Edmonton, Alberta. The squirrels usually don’t venture there, so when Sasha turned her back for a moment and then looked again, Tigger had disappeared.

At first, she thought Tigger might have run off to their neighbor’s property. However, when she looked up, she was shocked to see Tigger 50 feet up in their willow tree!

Tigger climbed up a willow tree.

Sasha told Global News it is the first time Tigger had ever climbed a tree. With her family away skiing, Sasha called first responders for help to get Tigger down.

Willow couldn’t get down the tree on her own.

The firefighters “were in a little bit of disbelief too” when they saw the dog in the tree but they quickly climbed up to rescue Tigger and bring her down safely.

Willow got a helping hand.

Tigger was relieved when they climbed up to get her and brought her down. She was unharmed, just a little cold. Sasha is now a bit cautious about letting Tigger off-leash in that part of the yard, but she’s hoping her adventurous pup has learned her lesson and won’t attempt to defy gravity again.
