Devoted Dog and Toddler Growing Older Together
When it comes to dog and human friendships, none stir our hearts more than those formed between children and dogs. The bonds they form are lifelong, deep and full of love. And it is so often centered around a wonderful dog who takes on the role of protector and friend without question. Larry is such a dog, Amber told DogHeirs when she sent us this sweet story about her senior dog.
Nine-year-old Larry has spent many happy times with his human’s niece. Amber, Larry’s mom, says he’s been by her niece’s side protecting her before she was even born. “He actually was with my sister during her pregnancy and deterred an intruder when she was home alone,” Amber told DogHeirs.com.
The dog and child adore each other and Amber’s niece “loves him to pieces”.
“He’s happy, spirited, and comfortable, Amber says when describing Larry. “His hair turned white after he became a distinguished gentleman.” He’s also a devoted family member. “He’s been there for me through school, relationships, and many hard times…” explains Amber. “Despite his fur turning white, he’s still very young at heart.”
