Diabetic Service Dog Shows How He Responds When His Owner’s Blood Sugars are Off
Service dogs carry out numerous helpful tasks every day for millions of people around the globe. Korey is one such dog. He’s a diabetic service dog trained to alert his human when her blood sugar levels are off.
Recently, his human filmed a few TikTok videos to reveal how the pair practise his alert skills together.
Reinforcing and maintaining a service dog’s training is a good way to not only continue to bond with one’s dog but it is also helpful in ensuring a service dog will continue to carry out his/her duties.
And as Korey demonstrates in the videos, it also gives viewers a newfound appreciation of the important work service dogs do every day!
In the first video, Korey’s human shows us what Korey does to detect low blood sugar levels.

Instead of nose “boops” for high blood sugar alerts, Korey spins around.

And if she faints, he barks for help.

On a side note, Korey wears booties in the house because he’s not too keen on hardwood floors and feels much more comfortable walking around in the shoes. As his human reveals in the training for his alerting her when she sleeps, Korey’s boots come off at night (and when not on hardwood floors).

Watching Korey at work, it never ceases to amaze us just how special service dogs are!
