Doberman Pinscher Heroically Saves Grandfather’s Life

Kai the Doberman Pinscher loves and protects his family. But even Kai’s family was surprised and impressed by his actions just before New Year’s when he saved their grandfather’s life.

According to a video shared by Kai’s family, on Kai’s TikTok account, Kai was at home with their grandfather when the man became unresponsive while sitting in a recliner. Kai could sense something was wrong and sprung into action.

Although Kai had never been trained how to open doors, he somehow managed to open the front door and run out of the house to call for help.

Once outside, Kai began barking furiously while running back into the house to check on grandpa. Kai kept trying to alert someone for an hour an a half, according to the timestamps on the video.

Sensing something was wrong, neighbors called the San Angelo Police Department. An officer arrived, and after first determining Kai was not dangerous, he entered the house and immediately called for an ambulance after finding the grandfather.

It turns out that grandpa had life-threatening sepsis. In a follow-up video @thisiskaiserr revealed that their grandfather spent 10 days in ICU and could easily have died from the blood infection. But thanks to Kai he survived.

“He would have died if he hadn’t made it to the hospital in time,” the family later said.

Thanks to his heroism, Kai now enjoys special privileges – he’s allowed on all the furniture and gets all the scraps of food (well, only the healthy ones). Good boy, Kai!
