Dog Shivering from the Cold Curls Up in Front of Shelter Asking For Help
A stray dog hoping to be rescued somehow found his way to a dog shelter to ask for help. Theoklitos Proestakis, more popularly known as Takis, runs a shelter in Crete, Greece. His shelter is home to hundreds of rescue dogs. Takis was outside feeding his dogs after it had rained heavily when he noticed the dogs were gathering at the fence watching something outside in the bushes.
Takis went to investigate and found a dog curled up in the grass and shivering from the cold. Takis figures that the frightened stray dog was drawn to the sound of the dogs barking. “He feels safe here,” Takis says in the video. “He did the right thing.”
Takis aptly named the dog “Smart” and brought him inside the shelter to warm up because it was clear the dog wasn’t feeling well. He placed Smart near a warm fire on some blankets and by the next morning Smart was already feeling better. He was a bit shy but soon his tail wagged and he was happily blending in with the pack of other rescue dogs. From Smart’s “happy tail” Takis knows the dog is going to be all right.
