Dog Leads Police To Crashed Truck Where Her Owner Lay Injured
A year-old Shiloh Shepherd who was running loose on a New Hampshire highway is being hailed as a hero for alerting authorities to a serious car accident, one involving her family.
It was a chilly night on January 3, 2022 when New Hampshire State Police answered a call about a dog seen on the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge located on Interstate 89 at the New Hampshire/Vermont boarder in Lebanon.
Police tried to catch her, but she kept leading them away, heading north on the road. When the police followed the Shepherd they noticed she had stopped in front of some broken guard rails. That’s when officers saw a smashed, overturned truck on the side of the road.
“As the Officers investigated further, they realized that both occupants of the pickup truck had been ejected from the vehicle and were hypothermic and seriously injured,” wrote New Hampshire State Police on Facebook.
Emergency crews were called in to help and the dog kept vigil by one of the injured men, her dad, Cam Laundry the entire time. Despite being involved in the accident herself, Tinsley the dog had lead officers right to the scene of the crash so they could help Laundry.
“We were shaken up, didn’t know what was happening, next thing we know the cops were there and it was all because of her,” Laundry told news station 10WJAR.
Laundry noted young Tinsley is a highly intelligent dog and his “little guardian angel”! The pair were interviewed after he had been released from hospital.
