Dog ‘Put Out with the Trash’ Finds Family Who Will Cherish Him
“Moe-Moe was literally put out with the trash.” That’s how the 4-year-old American Bulldog mix came into the care of the Hoke County Animal Shelter in Raeford, North Carolina recently.
The animal shelter shared that on September 7th, sanitation workers on their route spotted the dog by the curb along with the garbage. “Moe-Moe was literally put out with the trash. Thankfully the guys that pick up the trash called Animal Control and were kind enough to give him some water with ice while they waited,” Hoke County Animal Shelter wrote on a Facebook post on their page about Moe-Moe’s abandonment.
They shared some pictures of Moe-Moe including one with Moe-Moe in a carrier surrounded by trash, a scooter and an old chew toy.
Moe-Moe looks so dejected and scared in his carrier but the shelter also shared photos of Moe-Moe smiling upon his arrival at the shelter.
The shelter did learn a bit of history about Moe-Moe from a previous owner (although they made sure to clarify that this individual was not the family who left him at the curb).
“We were able to get some info on him,” they continued in their original post. “He has previously lived with 3 other dogs with a previous owner (to clarify…not this last home. There are no more dogs) and in this last home lived with children and did great with them.” They also added in a later comment that they have turned over “everything” to the proper authorities for investigation.
The animal shelter also noted that Moe-Moe is housebroken, walks great on leash and is neutered before announcing he would be ready for adoption on September 12th. “He’s such a sweetheart and I can’t imagine what he’s feeling right now,” shelter staff continued in their post.
But just 5 days later, the animal shelter had some other news to share with the many worried dog lovers who had helped share his story on social media. Moe-Moe has found a loving home.
“We’re happy to announce that he got a wonderful home today, Hoke County Animal Shelter wrote. “His new mom is the sweetest and has already sent me some updates. He’s already enjoying his big beautiful backyard and his new home.”
Photos of Moe-Moe on his freedom ride and at his new home show him looking very happy!
“Thank you to everyone who shared his story and to all the folks that helped him on this journey and especially to his new sweet family,” Hoke County Animal Shelter added and asked their readers that “”if you came to our page because of Moe-Moe please take a moment to share some of our other amazing animals.”
