Dog Rescued After Being Tossed Into Dumpster and Surviving 11 Hours in Freezing Cold
A 2-year-old Bishon Frise named Scotty is lucky to be alive after he was heartlessly tossed into a dumpster in sub-zero temperatures in New Jersey, only a mile away from the Old Bridge Animal Shelter. The dog spent 11 hours overnight in the freezing cold among the garbage bags until a maintenance worker discovered him in the morning. The man was driving by when he saw Scottie poking his head out of the dumpster.
Old Bridge Police Detective Michael Shannon told ABC7 NY that the worker was driving by when he spotted Scottie. “He poked his head out of the dumpster when the maintenance guy drove by. They took him because nobody else was around.”
Scottie was taken to Old Bridge Animal Shelter and an investigation was quickly launched. The police department immediately gathered evidence including video surveillance footage and quickly identified suspect. That suspect is now faces charges of animal neglect and abandonment.
Scottie is now getting lots of cuddles and attention at the shelter and they have received lost of calls to adopt him.
