Dog Falls into Raging River Twice, Rescued by Firefighters Just in Time

A 7-year-old rescue Whippet Rat Terrier mix dog went on an unwelcome adventure after she escaped from her family’s yard and found herself trapped along the river bank in Wellesley, MA.

The poor dog named Maggie had gone over a waterfall and was on a ledge when the Wellesley Police Department and the Newton Fire Department attempted to pull her up to safety. But she slipped and fell back into the river. Poor Maggie scrambled onto a set of rocks but it was extremely slippery and she fell in again. Thankfully, Maggie managed to climb onto another set of rocks. Firefighters raced to save her down river and successfully managed to grab hold of her.

Once Maggie was safe on dry land, they dried her off and reunited her with her family.

Her family commented on the Wellesley Police Department Facebook page, “From Maggie and her family, we are so incredibly grateful to both the Wellesley Police Department and the Newton Fire Department for rescuing our rescue dog and bringing her to safety!!”
