Rescuer Fails To Catch Two Stray Dogs, Then Gets Unexpected Help
Danny Spanks of A Safefurr Place Animal Rescue was heading out on a call to rescue a dog when a little dog darted in front of his car and crossed the road. Naturally, he pulled over to help. Danny often comes across stray dogs when he is out rescuing other dogs in Bakersfield, California.
The little dog with an underbite was friendly and approached him and Danny thought it was going to be an easy rescue. But, no, it was not. When he turned his back to grab a hot dog and leash the little dog disappeared into a private truck yard. Danny came back for several days to find the little dog but never spotted him. Weeks passed and still no sighting.
While Danny was trying to rescue another dog, he realized he was close to where he had spotted the little dog a month earlier. He went to the same location and spotted another little dog!
This new dog was also friendly. The dog grabbed some hot dog and when Danny tried to catch him, he ran off to the truck yard. Danny pursued him and heard the dog barking happily at someone and that’s when Danny met trucker Greg Flores.
Danny asked Greg if the dog was a stray (yes he was) and asked Greg if he could help him rescue the dog. Greg agreed. And wouldn’t you know, not only did the new dog follow after Greg but so did another dog…that little dog with an underbite!
Greg explained he had been feeding the pair of strays (who he named Mahlo and Scrappy) for months and was trying to find them a home.
Thanks to Greg’s help the two dogs were finally safe! And with the help of Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society Scrappy and Mahlo got a very happy ending – be sure to watch to the end of the video to see!
