Dog Decides to ‘Say Hello to Everyone’ in Middle of Competition at Crufts

A little dog won over the audience at Crufts when she interrupted her run on an obstacle course to say hello to her fans in the aisles. Penny, a Jack Russell Papillon mix, was participating in Hooper’s Display at the UK’s annual dog show when she veered off course.

Penny was competing with other dogs in a new dog sport called Hooper’s Display, which is like an agility course but is designed to be low impact.

Penny got laughs right from the start when she made an adorable high leap over a low pole but she wasn’t done yet. She decided to go check out what was going on in the stands and greet the crowd going from person to person with her tail wagging.

The announcer caught on to Penny’s goals, telling the crowd, “I think we have a people-loving Jack Russell cross Papillon here, she’s going to say hello to everyone.”

And that’s exactly what Penny did to everyone’s delight. Watch the cute moment here:

Penny eventually gets back on course and is heading to the finish line when she makes a b-line towards the judge. The announcer chimes in, “‘I didn’t say hello to the judge yet, I might have to…'” Penny is actually on her way to the exits, but that’s okay because she’s completed her mission to entertain her adoring public.

You can watch the full video of Cruft’s Hooper’s Display below. It walks through the rules of the sport and includes adorable performances from other dogs in the competition with Penny appearing at minute 18:24.
