Dog Finally Swims After 9 Years Of Going To Doggie Daycare Pool

Sometimes, we simply have to learn at our own pace no matter how long it takes. Buddy the Golden Retriever has been attending the Lucky Puppy Daycare Centre for nearly 10 years. He first came to them when he was just a puppy. Throughout all those years, Buddy has always loved the pool. He’ll splash around and grab toys from the side of the pool, but he’s never gone swimming despite encouragement from the staff. Until, now.

For some reason, the nine-year-old Golden Retriever decided that he would give swimming a try.

Following some gentle coaxing from Kristina, Buddy jumps right in much to everyone’s delight. “This is HUGE,” another staff member says in the video. “You have no idea how huge that is!”

The daycare says that despite his self-doubt, Buddy has become a confident swimmer, fetching toys and swimming lengths of the daycare pool.

Not only did the 9-year-old dog learn how to swim, he learned how to dive too! “Nobody believed me (coworkers) when I told them Buddy had learned to dive… so HERE IT IS,” a staff member at Lucky Puppy Daycare Centre wrote. “He started when I jumped in and he jumped in right next to me. It was extremely unexpected! So I couldn’t let that one go. We worked all afternoon on it together and he is a swimming and diving machine!”

Amazing! Buddy is an example of how patience and perseverance can result in incredible things! That, and you really can teach an old dog new tricks.
