Extremely Matted Dog Transforms Into Happiest Little Pup
When Tori at KC Pet Project first laid eyes on Simon, she said it was absolutely heartbreaking. The poor dog was covered in mats that he looked like a “prehistoric creature.” Not only could he barely walk, but he had trouble regulating his body temperature. He was one of the worst matted dog cases the rescue had ever seen.
Simon had been found wandering around in Kansas City, Missouri prior to being rescued. They immediately set to work. It would prove a tedious job to shave off all the matted fur but it had to be done! Two hours later, Simon emerged from under 6.5 pounds of matted fur, a significant weight for such a small dog. And the moment Simon got a bath, his tail was finally free to wag!
Simon would spend the next while recovering at the KC Pet Project. It took him a long time to learn how to walk normally again. When one of the shelter workers began taking him home on weekends, Simon really began to blossom. He loved her Boxer dog and he loves exploring. So when it came time to meet prospective adopters, he was ready to snuggle and ask for all the attention he could get. There was mutual love on both sides, and Simon has quickly adjusted to life in his forever home!
