Feral Chihuahua Learns to Love Belly Rubs
When Lucille arrived in the home of her Michelle, her foster mom, she was so terrified she wouldn’t come out of her kennel. Michelle wore big gloves because any time she would extend her hand to Lucille, the tiny chihuahua would lash out in fear. Michelle knew Lucille needed time to get used to being touched.
But on one day, Lucille had an accidental breakthrough. She rolled over trying to get away and Michelle gave her a few belly scratches. As soon as Michelle touched Lucille’s belly it was like a light bulb went off in Lucille’s mind and she thought “this feels really good.”
After that she was quick to roll over for a belly rub. Slowly, the rest of the world began to open up to Lucille and she grew more confident. Being around Michelle’s two other dogs really helped her too.
Lucille continued to heal and is now in her forever home and doing wonderfully.
