Sprout was found wandering the streets of Chicago carrying over 30 pounds of severely matted fur. Animal Control called One Tail at a Time for help, wanting to give the Tibetan Mastiff the best care.

She had to be carried out and they immediately took her to the vet to get her sedated and groomed to remove all of the matted fur. After Sprout was cleaned up and looked over she went into foster care.
Sprout began to recover almost immediately and enjoyed being able to lounge around the house, play outside, and cuddle with her mom.
Just a month after living life as a stray, Sprout is now living life as a beloved family member. One Tail at a Time shared the heartwarming news that Sprout has been adopted. She’s with a family who have another Tibetan Mastiff and will know how to properly care for her.
The rescue shared a pupdate on how Sprout is doing in her new home. Sprout appears to be adjusting to her new family so quickly that it’s come as a wonderful surprise to her rescuers.
They wrote on Instagram, “Yes, we believe in magic. Sprout is THRIVING! We were expecting it to take quite some time for Sprout to open up in her adopted home since she had been through so much, and was experiencing yet another huge life change. We also hadn’t seen her in a home with another dog. But there’s no doubt that Sprouty is home. She is loving life with her brother, Wally, and we could hardly believe the videos we were sent from her adopters. The hops! The play bows! The CONFIDENCE!”
“It was only six weeks ago that Sprout was found on the street with 33.4lbs of matted fur, urine, and feces on her body. She could hardly walk and she was so shut down,” they continued. “THIS is why we do what we do. These glowups keep us moving and keep us striving to do better. Thank you, Sprout, for being an inspiration to us and so many others.”
