Homeless Dog Who Kept Making Terrible Impression at Shelter Gets Second Chance

After nearly a year of waiting anxiously, a shelter dog has gotten her happy tails ending thanks to a dedicated foster parent.

Hazey was adopted as a puppy, but five years later she turned up as a stray and was picked up by DeKalb Animal Services. An unintentionally unflattering adoption photo and her “terrible kennel presence” resulted in Hazey being overlooked for adoption again and again.

Shelter staff and Hazey grew anxious that she would ever find a home. That’s when LifeLine Animal Project stepped in to help. One of their foster caregivers decided to treat Hazey a day out at the lake. That was the beginning of a whole new chapter to give Hazey a chance at being adopted.

Hazey’s journey to a better life is chronicled in the heartwarming video below:

Thanks to a loving foster home, Hazel is a “big city girl in Toronto” and loving life. It just goes to show what a difference a loving foster home can make to homeless dogs like Hazey!

Check out the adoptable pets at Dekalb Animal services website. The adoption photos are actually all really great and there are lots of adorable dogs ready for their forever homes.
