Husky Neglected in Crate His Whole Life Given Almost No Chance of Survival

It was hard not to tear up when Lee Asher of the Asher House first sees Rocky. The rescued Husky is skin and bones, weighing a mere 28 pounds.

As a result of Rocky’s poor physical condition, the veterinarian let Lee know it may be too late to save the husky. The starvation was so bad that Rocky’s body just might not recover.

Despite this, Lee still agreed to take him sensing in the dog that “he has what it takes” to fight and survive. Says Lee, “Rocky’s condition was the worst I’ve ever seen but I saw he had fight in his eyes and I agreed to take him.”

He later reveals that Rocky is only around 15 months old and was purchased on the side of the road.

It’s heartbreaking to realize how badly Rocky was abused – locked in a tiny kennel his entire life. And his paws are misshapen because he’d been stuck in a cage for so long. But a week later, he is introduced to the pack – meeting dogs probably for the very first time. (Keep an eye out for Matilda making her happy greeting.) And it’s a beautiful moment when Rocky can have his paws on the ground!

In a follow-up video, Lee takes Rocky to the groomer for the first time along with some other dogs. On the way there Rocky lets out a howl! He must be feeling better!

It doesn’t take them too long for all the freshly-groomed dogs to be back the dirt and Rocky follows their lead. Although he is still frail and has a lot more healing to do, he is so happy and already at ease at the Asher House.

Viewers are also impressed. “Wow! What a transformation in Rocky! Not just the grooming but also his socialization with the pack and you. You’ve done an amazing job with him and Matilda,” one viewer wrote.

And another fan wrote, “Rocky has a way to go yet – emotionally, as well as physically – but he’s sooo much better! He’s put on weight, he’s active, & he’s working his way into the pack.”

“Rocky is transforming into the dog he is suppose to be,” observed another. “Even getting his howls on. Once again, Lee, you have saved another beautiful dog.”
