K9 ‘Arrested’ For Tearing Up Squeaky Toy Pleads Innocent
A K9 “arrested” for malicious mischief after tearing up a squeaky toy has loyal fans cheering on his innocence. K9 Everest works at the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. He’s got a special job. He’s not a drug detection dog or field officer. Instead, he’s the department’s emotional support dog (or wellness dog) and trained to help employees who are dealing with some really tough situations every day.
Recently, however, Everest was caught red-handed with a torn up teddy at his feet.
This prompted the department to “paw-cuff” the canine and put him in jail. The K9’s “arrest” and subsequent processing have been shared on Instagram in a series of adorable videos that show the general public (and Everest’s many fans) what goes on behind-the-scenes at the police station.
In the first video, Everest strongly denies tearing up his squeaky toy during his arrest.

Finally Everest gets a verdict from the Judge. What will it be? (part 5)
“Everest’s big day is finally here! He is ready to prove his innocence and takes his oath before the judge,” the department shares. “Everest listens to judge and all the evidence against him is making him nervous. The jury panel is questionable, and they seem to just stare into space about the matter! Suddenly, right before the judge is about to slam a verdict, a final piece of evidence is brought in. Will Everest be found guilty or innocent?”
Whew, that was a close call, but justice prevailed. We’re glad that Everest will be back on duty making everyone feel better!
Everest’s antics also recently made the news and police officers described the important role K9 Everest has in their department.
