Man Rescues Puppy Hit by Car, Adopts Her into His Family
When Eddie Harry found an injured puppy near to his home, he immediately went to help her. She was on death’s door, but what happened next is a miracle.
Eddie shared his rescue story with DogHeirs and writes:
“She was hit by a car and I found her dying on the road, I picked her up only to take her to a nice place where she could die in peace,” he writes.
Eddie noticed the puppy had a very bad bump on her skull but he couldn’t take her to an animal hospital. He explains, “Where i live in Venezuela there are no vet clinics that work past 6 pm and on top of that i found her at 9 pm of a Tuesday and Wednesday was a holiday so i was extremely sad i could not help her and decided to make her feel loved if she had to die.
But the 1.5 month-old puppy miraculously pulled through! Eddie named her “Olaya” and although she did not have any identification, Eddie began looking for her owners.
Eddie explains that pet abandonment is pretty common in his country and there are thousands of stray dogs. Microchip technology is also not something that exists in Venezuela according to Eddie. “I wish we had it,” he says.
“Here in Venezuela we have a huge problem with people abandoning their pets. I spent 2 weeks trying to find her owner and found out she was just abandoned.”
“I searched for her owners but no luck and to be honest i am glad i did not find them, she is better with me.”
Olaya isn’t Eddie’s first rescue. He says, “She is not my only ‘rescue dog’ as i have 7 more and believe me, she is not the only one with a story.”
Olaya is now 3 months old. She is still small but has fully healed. Now a member of Eddie’s family he says, “i am very happy I stopped and helped her.”
