Mastiff Found Tied to a Pole with a Note by Highway
Roxi, a four-year-old American Bull Mastiff, was found flea-ridden and abandoned by the side of the Southern State Parkway in Long Island this past week.
Ray Quinones, the Good Samaritan who stopped to help her, says he was “very frustrated” because the leash that attached Roxy to the pole was very short so she could only stand up or sit down. As he approached her she was yelping for help and she started to get happy when he got closer but then grew nervous. So Ray called police and they came and picked Roxi up.
Roxi was tied to the pole with a note that read: “This is Roxi, a trained American Bull Mastiff. She is four years old. She has been fed and given a flea bath, she may still have issues with them. See that she gets good care.”
Roxi is now being looked after at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. Other than fleas, Roxi appears healthy and is doing well. While police continue to investigate her abandonment, they have said they have received calls from people all over America who want to help Roxi find a home.
