Naughty Dog Chasing Ducks Learns Lesson About Green Grass

Sometimes fur kids just have to learn the hard way that not everything is the way it appears and that the grass really isn’t “always greener on the other side.” That’s what Digby the dog learned when he was out for a walk in Centennial Park with his dad. Digby had a naughty moment and decided to chase after some ducks swimming in a pond. He ignores his dad’s warnings (and recall) and thinks he’s about to run over grass but…splash!

Digby doesn’t realize the green grass is actually algae on the water and he plunges right in. “That’ll teach you,” says dad as a very wet Digby climbs out of the water.

Poor Digby! His dad tried to warn him. But as his dad says we’re thinking he’s learned his lesson for the future. In a short follow-up video “a bedraggled and wary Digby checks the grassy limits and explores the lake edge,” no doubt committing to memory the “invisible barrier” between land and water that so rudely interrupted his fun.

Please note: Digby was unharmed from his dip in the water if anyone was concerned that the algae on the surface of the water might be of the toxic variety (it wasn’t). But please be cautious letting your dog swim in lakes and rivers covered with algae as there can be toxic blue-green algae blooms in warmer months that can harm your pup.
