Penny the ‘Magnificent’ Doberman Pinscher Wins Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause when Penny the Doberman pinscher was announced as the winner of the 150th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show for her undeniably elegant stance, calm and friendly demeanor, and beauty.
It was an emotional moment for her handler, Andy Linton, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease the last few years. Fighting back tears, when he asked what it’s taken for get him back to the show he said “I had some goals and this one was one of them.”
The last time a Doberman won the prestigious American dog show was back in 1989. Linton happened to be the handler that year too and won with his Doberman Indy.
And what did Penny do after her win? She enjoyed a a special post-victory meal – a juicy steak. Penny, 4, has officially retired say owners Greg Chan and Theresa Connors-Chan and she will be heading home with them.
