Puppy Abandoned On Road Jumps into Man’s Truck and Becomes Baby’s Best Friend

Jonathon was out driving when he saw a puppy wandering in circles in the dark outside a truck stop. As soon as he stopped to check on her, the puppy jumped right into his vehicle as if she had been waiting for someone, anyone to open their door and their heart to her.

Jonathon knew he couldn’t leave the pup behind so he brought her home. Wanting to be careful, he got the approximately 10-month-old beagle mix vaccinated and isolated her for a week before introducing her to his family and other dog. They named her Maggie and she instantly befriended their their baby girl, Leila.

Since her rescue, Maggie shows her family how much she loves and appreciates them.

The energetic young dog has brought chaos to their home but Jonathan says it’s a “lovable chaos.”

In a bittersweet update on Maggie, Jonathan shared that his family had to come to the difficult decision to find Maggie another home. As he explains on his TikTok channel, “We didn’t have the time and energy she needed. She has a very high energy and attention need. We did all we could, but we just couldn’t.”

It was a heartbreaking decision, says Jonathon, but one that what was best for Maggie. He saysthere were many times he wanted to change his mind but it was not what Maggie needed. So he reached out to Brown Dog Coalition out of Boston to see if they could help find the now one-and-a-half-year old dog a new family, one more suited for her temperament.

Around a month and a half later (just before Christmas), they did! Jonathan provided an update in a video sharing how Maggie was adopted and thriving in her new home. She is in a home with a retired couple who dote on her and take her on walks and to the lake. She also has bonded with their daughter.

One Maggie fan responded to the news by writing, “Not every dog is a fit for every family, and it’s important to recognize when the dog you have doesn’t fit your household. Maggie will be just fine.”

Another person commented, “You weren’t looking for a dog, Maggie found you. I have so much respect for you and your family for thinking about her and what is right.”

Jonathan thinks so too and says his heart is more at peace knowing Maggie is being well looked after and the centre of attention.
