Rescuer Goes to Get Backyard Breeding Dogs and Ends Up With Car Full of Surprises
Recently, Lee Asher headed out to Los Angeles on a rescue mission to pick up a few dogs who had been used by a backyard breeder for profit. But it was on his trip home that he got some unexpected surprises!
Lee’s first stop in LA was to pick up a few smaller dogs who had been overbred. They greeted him warmly and looked ready to go on their adventure to their new home. While on a pit stop on the drive back to Oregon, where the Asher House animal sanctuary is located, Lee stopped to meet a couple who wanted to surrender a dog. That dog turned out to be a young Neapolitan Mastiff! The puppy doesn’t look in the best of health and had his ears badly cropped, but thankfully he’s in good hands now.
But it’s the Great Dane puppy that came as a big surprise to Lee. Lee explains in the video that he wanted to convince the couple that the puppy would be a lot of work and that he’d be able to care for it. Moments later Lee is carrying the pup to the car. He notes that the puppy has obviously been taken from its mother far too young and smelled of urine. But thank goodness the couple did the right thing and surrendered the dog to Lee!
It’s heartbreaking to see what some dog owners do to the dogs in their care. But thanks to the Asher House, these dogs will be getting the life they deserve.
