Robotic Wolf Hangs Out With Wolf Cubs at Den for Peek Inside Their Lives

Wildlife researchers and photographers are coming up with many new and innovative ways to observe animals including life-like robots!

In this clip from BBC’s Spy in the Wild, an animatronic wolf cub with a miniature camera in its eye is placed near a wolf den. Soon, the wolf mother comes over to the lifelike “spycam” and gives it a curious sniff.

Wolves are known to kill strange cubs, but in this case the robot gets a watery welcome as the mother wolf piddles on him! But that will work to the robot’s advantage as it now smells like one of the pack.

When mom goes away to fetch food the spy wolf cub reveals one of the every day threat that the cubs endure.
