Injured Shelter Puppy Reaches Out His Paw for Help from Rescuer
When Zach Skow, founder of Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue, arrived at the shelter to take a look at a puppy named Ansel he found a scared dog looking to be loved.
“He came in after being mauled as a stray and losing his brother,” Zack explained in a Facebook post about the pup.
Even though Ansel had puncture wounds and a bad wound around his neck, he reached out his paw to Zack as Zack petted him.
Zack took Ansel home to foster him. It took a few days for Ansel to start feeling better but Zack knew the puppy was feeling better when he stole his slipper and jumped on the couch. The pup also had a wonderful attitude and loved being with Zack’s other dogs and his two kids.
“[His attitude is wonderful and he’s ready for the next chapter in his life,” said Zack. “It feels good to support this kiddo and do so with my kiddos. One of the great benefits of fostering is getting the kids involved in service early on.”
With Ansel’s confidence growing and leash training going well, Ansel’s adoption day soon arrived.
Ansel (now Phoenix) is doing wonderfully and is ready for the next chapter in his life thanks to the wonderful care he was given so that he could heal both physically and emotionally! To support Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue visit www.marleysmutts.org.
